Design Your Production workshops are individually built to assist your class or classes in developing the design portion of its schools’ production.

In a single workshop students are introduced to the importance of design on the stage, drawing examples from the world of theatre and its many facets of design including; costume, lighting, makeup, set, and props.   Students will have an opportunity to discuss and begin construction for their own production based on the themes and characters within the show.

The optional 2nd and 3rd sessions give students the opportunity to collaborate with the artist from start to finish in the building of all of their sets, costumes, props and makeup.  Based on the number of participants and the production itself these sessions may or may not be suggested.

Teachers are encouraged to correspond with the artist in advance in order to help us to prepare the appropriate plan for their particular sessions.  Correspondents may include sending up-to-date scripts, character lists, or dream wishes for design goals!

All materials can be gathered in advance by the school. Workshops are built to encourage low-cost design construction and can usually be created using onsite school supplies,  such as;  glue, construction paper, hot glue guns, and box cardboard.   Additional materials not found on-site may require students to bring in found objects such as torn fabric from home, objects from nature, or recyclable materials.

Costs for a school production vary depending on the number of classes participating, and the time that can be allotted to building the show with design support.
